Abstrakt Algebra Abstrakt Algebra

info

Abstrakt Algebra was formed by Leif Edling, following the initial breakup of his former band, Candlemass. Desiring to move somewhat away from the pure doom of Candlemass, the material here is more in the technical power metal mold, along the lines of Nevermore or perhaps Hexenhaus. The album is quite good and received some good reviews but didn't for whatever reason failed to set the world on fire. Work began on a second album with a different lineup, but the Candlemass name still loomed in the background (read: a "new" Candlemass album would sell better than another Abstrakt Algebra record), and so Edling took some of the ideas for that second album, as well as drummer Jejo Perkovic, back to Candlemass, where they materialized on the Dactylis Glomerata album. Thus, Abstrakt Algebra was over.
