Callenish Circle
Callenish Circle
|
The Dutch band Callenish Circle was formed in 1992 by vocalist Patrick Savelkoul and guitarist Jos Evers, and after a few years' work and a demo recorded in 1995, managed their first album in '96 and went on to release five full-length albums. While the Netherlands has had several quality death metal bands playing in the old-school tradition (Thanatos, Asphyx, and God Dethroned, to name three), Callenish Circle has less in common with those bands and much more in common with the melodic-based death metal of several Swedish bands. Arguably they never really separated themselves from the pack, the melodic death genre being overrun with bands for several years now, but they did manage quite a successful 15-year run. They announced their breakup in February 2007, believing they had accomplished all they wanted to.
