This is kind of interesting, a duo out of New York (by way of Ohio) appears seemingly out of nowhere to release a nifty little album called Closing In in 2005. The style here is clearly early-80's based, sometimes unabashedly NWOBHM worship ("War Eagle") at other times verging on early Metallica cloning ("Feeding Frenzy" and in particular "Evil Is" sound like Kill 'Em All outtakes), with most songs somewhere between these two styles. There's nothing very complex here, but it's surprisingly well done, simple yet effective, a fine release that probably not a lot of metal fans know about yet. It'll be interesting to see what Matador Records (a sizeable label, though hardly metal) does with a band like this, as often metal bands on non-metal labels tend to languish or lapse into obscurity. Hopefully that won't be the case here.
