Germany's Eisheilig has been around for a few years, debutting in 2001 and with four albums to their credit. Reviewed here is the band's third effort, Elysium, released in 2006. For better or worse, any band who employs harsh guitars and a deep male voice singing in German is going to be compared to Rammstein, and, yes, there are some commonalities here, even though Eisheilig is really more of a gothic metal band while Rammstein has always been a bit more aligned with the industrial scene. Yet the comparison does hold water, and while Eisheilig is clearly not a Rammstein clone (the songs are a bit more sprawling, and less upbeat), but there's just enough similarity to warrant the mention in the first place. Though the band has stated they do not mind the Rammstein comparisons in the past, they do claim that their newer Auf Dem Weg In Deine Welt strays from that style.
