From New Orleans, Goatwhore is one of two bands that has been labelled post- Acid Bath (the other being Agents Of Oblivion), though in this case the tag is somewhat incorrect in that various incarnations of this band existed while Acid Bath was still active. Comprised of several veterans of the NOLA scene, the band effectively melds old-style black metal (the keyboardless, more brutal early style of black metal, reminiscient of bands like Darkthrone) with NOLA-style sludge metal, resulting in an impressively intense sound.
