Hanker
|
The French Canadian band Hanker was formed back in 1985, though it wasn't until 1994 that their first album was released. The band is clearly rooted in power metal, but not the current melodic Euro variety -- Hanker sounds much more like a NWOBHM band, particularly on their first two releases, with a raw, rough style and a youthful energy that is quite effective. Iron Maiden influences abound here, though the vocalist is more along the lines of, perhaps, Harry Conklin of Jag Panzer (early JP is another occasional soundalike). The band currently isn't well known outside their native country, but these guys are quite good.
