Kryoburn formed in 1995 and spent several years cultivating a metal scene in their small hometown of Carlsbad, New Mexico, eventually attracting the interest of Pissing Razors drummer Eddy Garcia, who invited them to his studio to lay down some initial tracks. After several more years of self-financed touring, their debut album, Enigmatic Existence, was released in 2005. Enigmatic Existence comes straight from the Fear Factory/ Strapping Young Lad world of harsh vocals (with some clean choruses), Pantera-esque riffing, and inventive drumming. A bit more variance in the songwriting wouldn't go amiss here, but the band is tight and intense, and Existence is a fine debut.
