The offspring of Fear Factory and Strapping Young Lad are coming out of the woodwork these days, as more and more bands adopt the faintly industrial, harsh metal style often attributed to those two bands. This is where Mnemic lies, ranking with fellow Danes Raunchy and France's Scarve as among the best of this relatively new breed of extreme metal. Arguably they haven't quite created a distinct sound as yet, but these guys are intense and worthy of a listen. About the name: the band themselves say it's an acronym for Mainly Neurotic Energy Modifying Instant Creation, and it's also Latin for "memory".
