Max Havoc would normally be relegated to the pile of forgettable 80's bands that sprung out of nowhere during that decade, releasing an album or two before disappearing without a trace. However, they are notable for the simple reason that their original drummer was none other than Black Sabbath legend Bill Ward. Indeed, the band was founded by vocalist Pat McKeon and Ward, who had recently departed Sabbath around 1981. The early lineup didn't pan out, Ward returned to Sabbath, and McKeon drafted a new lineup that eventually recorded their only album in 1983, by which time Ward returned to act as executive producer. Also of note were guest appearances by Carlos Cavaso (Quiet Riot and W.A.S.P. drummer Tony Richards. As far as the music goes, it was a pretty basic hard rock affair, bordering on pre-glam a la early Motley Crue, not surprising for a young band from Los Angeles at the time.
