Remarkably, the veteran German power metal band Rage soldiers on, becoming one of the most prolific metal bands ever as they continue to record steadily, as they have ever since their inception as Avenger in the mid-eighties (they changed name after two albums to avoid a conflict with a British band of the same name). Led as always by bassist/singer Peavey, the basic style of Rage, distinctive despite staying within the basic power metal ethic, really hasn't changed a lot over the years (save some orchestral experimentation on albums such as Lingua Mortis and XIII), yet they have consistently released solid albums and remain a popular band in Europe and Japan.
