Shihad formed in 1988 in New Zealand (they have since relocated to Australia) and have a total of six releases. In 2002 the band decided a name change was in order, as the events of 9/11 made them realize that their name was too similar to Jihad, the term for Holy War. Under their new name Pacifier, they released an album in late 2002, but they reverted back to their previous name in late 2004. The only album reviewed here is 1995's Killjoy, a moody, interesting dark alterna-metal album that showed a fair degree of originality and promise. Reportedly the newer material opts for a more mainstream-ish appeal, somewhat inspired by AC/DC.
