Thrust was one of many indie bands of the mid-eighties, playing the sort of energetic Priest/Maiden-inspired metal prevalent during that time. They debuted with a rare split live LP with another Chicago band called Lazer, the album being called Rock For Poland. Following that came an appearance on Metal Massacre 4 and their proper debut album, Fist Held High. Though it had its momemts, Fist ultimately didn't amount to much and the band lapsed into cult status. Following a move to Los Angeles, they broke up in the late eighties sometime, but guitarist Ron Cooke put together a new lineup in September of 2001 and a new album, Invitation To Insanity, has since been released.
