Veni Domine dates back to 1987, the nucleus of the band formed by brothers Torbjörn and Thomas Weinesjö along with Anders Olofsson. The band debuted in 1992 with Fall Babylon Fall, then hooked up with Thunderload Records (run by the guys in Heavy Load) for two more albums in 1994 and 1998. Work commenced on a fourth album, but due to various problems with their record label, combined with an extended illness to vocalist Fredrik Ohlsson, delayed the album for several years, finally seeing the light of day in 2004. A quick listen to their early work finds the band combining doom and prog metal, roughly in the same ballpark as prime Solitude Aeturnus, with excellent vocals from Ohlsson that resembled Queensryche's Geoff Tate, and lyrics of a Christian nature, though not preachy.
