Yakuza, hailing from Chicago, is quite a strange little band. Way Of The Dead, their second album, is a jazzy, dissonant metalcore album, with twisted arrangements, frequent sax breaks, and a general sense of controlled chaos (they aren't quite as over-the-top as The Dillinger Escape Plan, but they're sort of in the same ballpark). When they're on ("Yama" and "Chicago Typewriter" for example), they're unstoppable. They clearly aren't afraid to take chances, as evidenced by the final track, an ambient, psychelelic-tinged number that's over forty (!) minutes long. The sky's the limit for a band like this.
