70's Metal
Though in some respects metal didn't really take off until the 80's, the 70's were clearly the formative years for the genre. The bands featured here lived either entirely in the 70's, or did their major work in the 70's, or in a few cases (such as Rush) had their true metallic moments in the 70's.70's Metal bands:
