Astarte  


Astarte is a Greek black metal band who happen to be all female (well, almost -- the band is a female trio with a session male drummer). Their early material is old-school black metal by the numbers, as they sound much more Norwegian than Greek and the tortured vocals of Tristessa and/or Kinthia certainly don't sound like typical female vocals, instead harkening to any number of traditional male black vocals. The band released three albums with a stable lineup, followed by a split, with Tristessa going it alone with a new lineup, releasing Sirens, their fourth album, in 2004.
