Zakk Wylde (real name Jeffrey Wielandt) rose to prominence in 1987 when, at the age of 20, he became Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist, a position he still holds. Black Label Society is essentially Zakk's solo project, after a short-lived stint in the more southern-styled Pride & Glory and a true solo album entitled Book Of Shadows in 1996. Here, Zakk lets loose, fusing his southern influences with a rough, loud hard rock style that just reeks of beer and cigarettes, with his trademark flashy guitar style fully intact and complemented by impressively gritty vocals.
