Battleroar

This self-described "traditional epic metal" band formed in Athens in 2000,
citing influences such as
Omen,
Cirith Ungol,
Manowar,
Heavy Load
(their name, Battleroar, comes from a Heavy Load song lyric),
and others, and if one combined the sounds of those four aforementioned
bands, yep, that's what Battleroar sounds like.
They also got famed
Manilla Road
frontman Mark Shelton to sing the opening song on their
Age Of Chaos album, an excellent touch.
It's all pretty familiar stuff, but well executed, though the
wavery vocals of Marco Congoreggi could use a bit more punch.
In many respects Battleroar is little more than a tribute band to the
aforementioned bands and the 80's metal scene in general, though
to be fair there is an audience for this and their devotion to their cause
is admirable.
