Brain Surgeons  

The Brain Surgeons were formed by vocalist Deborah Frost and drummer Albert Bouchard, some time after the latter's departure from Blue Oyster Cult. They toiled in the New York area for several years, putting out albums and achieving local success but not really making much of a dent otherwise, but then came the somewhat surprising arrival of none other than Ross The Boss, one-time Manowar guitarist. Their most recent album (and first with Ross) is 2006's Denial Of Death, and while it sounds little like BOC or Manowar (or, by several accounts, even the Surgeons' earlier material), it's simply a joy to listen to, mature hard rock/metal that really doesn't resemble anyone else in particular. The band hasn't recorded since Denial and Ross has since formed his own band, so the current status here is in doubt.
