Cavalera Conspiracy

It was inevitable that something like this would come to be. Ever since Igor Cavalera's departure from the mighty Sepultura in 2006 (his brother Max had left long before that), the world wondered when and how the Cavaleras would play together again -- really, it'd either be a new band like this or both guys going back to Sepultura (and who knows when or if that will ever happen). So here we have Cavalera Conspiracy, which originally was going to be called Inflikted until it was discovered that that name was already in use, and so Inflikted became the album title instead. Is this a complete return to the Arise era of Sepultura? Not exactly. Is this just another version of Soulfly? Not really. Does this sound like newer Sepultura? Not much. While this lacks the tribalisms and down-tuned guitars of, say, Roots, a lot of what one would expect from the Cavaleras is here -- part thrash, part death, and part modern extreme metal, with Max's hate-filled vocals and Igor's fine drumming leading the way. Even if this isn't exactly what one might expect, it's familiar enough to be a no-brainer recommendation for Sepultura/Soulfly fans.
