Desaster

Taking their name from the Destruction song "Total Desaster", this German band was formed back in 1988, with demos appearing in the early nineties followed by a string of albums, the latest being Divine Blasphemies in 2002. Blackened thrash is what's on offer here, with much of the band's back catalog paying homage to 80's Germanic thrash while also blending clear black metal riffing, though new vocalist Sataniac's lower-pitched roar, combined with a slightly faster approach, gives Divine Blasphemies an almost death metal edge. Frenzied and energetic, Desaster has found its niche, combining several familiar influences yet forging a distinctive style.
