Dies Irae

Dies Irae features members from three of Poland's finest death metal bands, coming together to produce, well, more Polish death metal. The Sin War, the band's second effort, is a well-produced slice of mid-paced old-school death metal, with some nods to the members' other bands (i.e., bits of both Vader and particularly Behemoth can be heard, though they aren't technical nor complex as Sceptic is), with other influences being prime American death like Morbid Angel. Often when side projects like this (if this is just a side project) are similar to the members' main bands, one might wonder what is the point of just doing more. But here, Dies Irae have produced an album that can stand on its own. A solid death metal recommendation.

Note: no relation to the Mexican death metal band Dies Irae.
