Disembowelment

Transcendence Into The Peripheral, the only album by the Australian band Disembowelment, explores the extreme end of doomdeath, featuring long, droning songs drenched in gloom. With only a few fleeting exceptions, the riffs here are amongst slowest ever recorded. Though undeniably doomy, it is actually less heavy than other tradition doomdeath acts, almost ambient in its minimalist approach. This is about as far from easy listening as it gets. Two core members went on to form Trial Of The Bow, described elsewhere as "ethno-ambient".
