Don Caballero

Excepting the guitar-hero bands, all-instrumental groups are a
rarity in the rock/metal world, and those that do exist are often
quirky groups off in their own world.
Don Caballero is precisely such a band.
Throughout their career they have experimented with various styles
(metal only being one of many), with the result being a
complex, often dissonant sound, sometimes likened to the term
"math rock".
Hard to pinpoint, not an immediate listen, but pretty interesting --
there really isn't any other band that sounds much like this.
The band broke up in 2001, but two years later drummer Damon Che
resurrected the name, recruiting members from a Pittsburgh group
called Creta Bourzia to form a new version of Don Caballero.
Initially this was to be a one-time gig, but the band is now actively
touring and released a new album in 2006.
