Grimfist

Grimfist was formed in 2001 as a side project led by
then-
Immortal
drummer Horgh and guitarist
Ole Walaunet, later to be joined by vocalist Frediablo.
Another Immortal member, bassist Iscariah, played briefly with the band
in the early days but soon departed to focus on his other bands.
The debut album,
Ghouls Of Grandeur, appeared in the summer of 2003,
which, coincidentally or not, was also the time that Immortal announced
its breakup.
Ghouls is one of those albums best described as simply extreme metal,
as they borrow elements from death (quite a bit),
black (some), and thrash
(a little bit, particularly on "A World Of Wrath") to forge a vicious,
no-holds-barred style --
there's even a bit of traditional power metal buried beneath the riffs.
The variety of influences makes the band a bit hard to pin down,
as they really don't sound a lot like any one band.
A very well-done album from a band that could make a big impact in the
extreme metal scene.
