Gorod  

This French death metal band, orginally going by the name of Gorgasm, debuted in 2005 with Neurotripsicks, but soon realized that another band went by that name (the Chicago band Gorgasm), and so they changed name to Gorod. The Neurotripsicks album was re-released by Willowtip under their new name, and two years later their followup album, Leading Vision, was recorded. Here the band has mastered the blend of brutal and technical death metal without losing focus -- there are plenty of twisted riffs and time signatures here, but not so much as to distract the listener. So far the band has gained critical acclaim but not yet worldwide fame, but there's still time for growth.
