Hands Of Orlac

Taking their name from an ancient horror film, Hands Of Orlac originally hailed from Italy and released a self-titled effort in 2011. Hands Of Orlac loosely belongs in the doom field, though it fits more in the realm of 70's occult rock/metal, especially given the lazy semi-tuneless vocals of one Ginerva, whose flute playing also brings a somewhat folky occult slant. Italy is no stranger to horror-inspired metal and for that reason this band just sounds, well, Italian, bringing to mind (in spirit, not as a soundalike) bands like Death SS. There's a really cool vibe at work here, especially for those into the retro metal scene. Apparently the band has relocated to Sweden, which is reflected in the current lineup that features both Italians and Swedes.
