Ice Vinland
A French Canadian Viking band?
Yes, that's the story behind Ice Vinland, a band essentially
paying homage to the Scandinavians who settled in North America
a thousand years ago.
Musically they have little if anything in common with current
Viking bands such as (say)
Thyrfing,
instead opting for a classic mid-eighties American traditional
metal style
(their faithful cover of
Queensryche's
"Take Hold Of The Flame" gives a good indication of their sound).
The production is a little thin (these are self-released albums,
after all), but not a detriment to the listening experience.
This is a fine band for 80's metal purists.
