Kadavar

The 70's retro-doom-rock revival scene has flourished for a couple of years now, and this where the German trio Kadavar dwells. First and foremost there's an obvious Black Sabbath influence, but also some Hawkwind spaciness and more of a 70's hard rock feel, akin to bands like Wolfmother. Like many of their brethren, the production here sounds analog and loose and bright, befitting the retro style. Fans of both stoner and doom metal will find much to like here, even though the band doesn't truly fit in either genre, as this is more upbeat than the typical ultra-heavy, ponderous doom band, and there's more 70's stylings than the Kyusss of the world.
