Khlyst is the latest project headed up by James Plotkin,
who's been involved in all sorts of projects over the years
most recently seen in the late
Pretty much everything Plotkin has been involved in is
some sort of extreme noisefest, and Khlyst is no exception,
if anything this is even less structured and more out-there
than his previous works.
He does most of the work here himself, save percussion
by his old Khanate bandmate Tim Wyskida and a quite
chilling vocal performance by one Runhild Gammalsaeter --
her growls, shrieks, moans, and assorted tortured voices
make for a rather harrowing listening experience.
Musically, it's drone-ish, at times ambient and at other
times rather cacophonous.
Really a pretty bizarre project and clearly tailored to a select
few -- traditional metalheads probably aren't going to get too
much out of this.
