Misery Index  


Misery Index was formed in 2001 by a pair of former Dying Fetus members in Jason Netherton and Mike Harrison, initially as a studio project. With another Dying Fetus player (drummer Kevin Talley) rounding out the initial lineup, a pair of EPs were recorded. Harrison and Talley left, and yet another ex-Dying Fetus man stepped in, that being guitarist Sparky Voyles, and along with new drummer Matt Byers, the band started to take off, finally recording their first full-length album in Retaliate, released in 2003. Retaliate is an instant death metal classic, short and to the point, featuring a stellar production, crunchy yet complex riffing from Voyles, and an absolutely insane drumming performance from Byers. This album has been getting enthusiastic thumbs up from critics and fans alike, and with good reason. Misery Index is clearly a rising star in death metal.
