Opposite Earth

Opposite Earth is an intriguing progressive metal band from Florida -- intriguing in that they have a relatively unique style, blending traditional progressive metal with influences such as Tool and later Psychotic Waltz (musically, not vocally). Steve Vincent's midrange vocals are clear but never out of control, a contrast to the overly melodic wailers that many prog/power metal bands employ these days. The songs are usually midpaced and not quite as technical-minded as some prog bands, opting instead for a more relaxed psychedelic progressive style that, as was said at the onset, quite intriguing. A very good album, one of those that really grows on the listener after repeated plays. Unfortunately the band was never heard from again.
