Outrage  


It's really too bad that the Japanese metal scene seems so closed to the rest of the world. Every once in awhile a Loudness breaks through, but there are just too many established bands that get little exposure outside their homeland. Case in point: Outrage, an accomplished speed/thrash band that has been releasing albums pretty steadily ever since the mid-eighties, often on major labels, yet they just aren't well known away from Japan. Based on their latest, self-titled effort, that's a shame, as they take a very obvious early Metallica vibe (right down to very Hetfield-ish vocals) and run with it, but this is less a retro cash-in and more a case of a solid, mature band doing prime thrash right.
