Pestilence  

Pestilence was one of the top Dutch death/thrash bands of the late 80's and early 90's, with albums such as Consuming Impulse and Testimony Of The Ancients still regarded as some of the best death metal of the time. By the time of their fourth album (Spheres, released in 1993), they had risen to near Cynic levels, incorporating jazz/fusion influences and technical songwriting to a death metal base. The band disbanded around 1994, with guitarist Patrick Mameli stating that the band had tired of the metal scene and that the members wished to pursue other musical interests. However, as of 2008 Mameli has resurrected the band with a new lineup.
