Quartz  


Quartz was a NWOBHM oddity, a band with a hit-or-miss catalog that struggled for direction (bands who release live albums as their second album are often misguided) throughout their career. Amidst the chaos, however, was the outstanding Stand Up And Fight, one of the heaviest and brightest moments of the early NWOBHM period -- truly a classic. Elsewhere there were flashes of brilliance (such as the Sabbathy "Mainline Riders" from the first album, the Sabbath sound no doubt due to none other than Tony Iommi producing the album), but largely this was a band whose inconsistency did them in.

The band reunited in 2011 and as of this writing (July 2012) are active.
