Saviour Machine  


A band truly in a world of its own, Saviour Machine was formed in 1989 by the brothers Clayton (vocalist Eric, guitarist Jeff), and have over the course of their career firmly established themselves as a unique and powerful band. The music might be described as a cross between progressive and gothic metal, but really this is true rock opera at its finest, with sweeping, majestic, theatrical song structures, including choirs, Middle Eastern influences, and a tremendous grandiose atmosphere. Eric Clayton is the star here, his powerful baritone voice makes him one of the most distinctive vocalists in metal. Lyrically, Saviour Machine is most definitely in the Christian camp, but rather than simply using music as a soapbox to preach, they instead opt for complex storylines such as an adaptation of the Book Of Revelations (the ambitious Legend, covering three albums over a five-year span). Very few bands attempt this style, and none do it better.
