Taraxacum

Taraxacum is a band consisting of members from various other predominantly German metal bands (American vocalist Rick Mythiasin being the exception), and is one of those bands that insists is not a side project even though most members have priorities elsewhere. Given the pedigree, prime Germanic power metal might be expected, but that's not what Taraxacum is about. Rather, the emphasis here is an American-ish, slightly progressive flavored hard rock, with the various songs exhibiting several different styles, ranging from the sickly-sweet Journey-esque "Never Let You Go" to the speedy "Blast Off" to power ballads such as "Alone" which might remind one of Zach Stevens-era Savatage. For the style, it's pretty well done, but it might be a disappointment to those who expect something like the members' other bands.

About the name -- not many bands name themselves after a flower (well, there is Green Carnation), but Taraxacum did (it's actually a bit more complicated than that -- Taraxacum is the Latin translation for the German word "L÷wenzahn", which literally translates to "lion tooth" and refers to a yellow flower akin to a dandelion).
