Technocracy

Technocracy was the latest progression for guitarist Phil Demmel, who previously served in Torque and before that in Vio-lence. Demmel's thrash roots can be heard on Technocracy's self-titled, self-released debut album, but they are not really a thrash band. Instead, their sound is a fusion of post-thrash heavy riffing, surprisingly melodic yet forceful vocals, and subtle electronic effects, yielding a relatively unique and quite interesting album. Quite polished for a self-financed debut, Technocracy looked set to build for the future. Instead, however, they called it quits in April of 2003, citing burnout and a desire to move on. Demmel was briefly in the reunited Vio-lence and now has joined Machine Head, while at least some of the other members will no doubt pursue new projects in the future.
