Tritone

Tritone formed in the fall of 2000 and is a young Finnish
band looking to make its mark on the metal world.
They have released two albums to date, with the second album
Wings Of Freedom being the relevant release, but their
first album,
Covers Nirvana, deserves a mention just for the oddity of it all.
A few bands have recently released albums consisting solely
of covers
(
Slayer and
Six Feet Under to name two), but it's very rare to see one band
completely covering another, and this is Tritone's debut
album!
Even stranger is that their style on
Wings Of Freedom sounds nothing like Nirvana whatsoever, save
one song ("Signal"), which was recorded with the old lineup.
Exactly what the band was thinking debuting with a covers album
isn't quite clear.
In any case, the aforementioned
Wings is a pretty basic
affair strongly influenced by the NWOBHM movement of the
early eighties as well as traditional eighties metal,
featuring rather simple arrangements and basic musicianship.
There is potential here, but at the moment
Wings Of Freedom
sounds more like a demo from a very young band rather than
a polished product.
