Viper
Though Viper forged a successful career in their own right,
they are still often referred to as the former band
of Andre Matos, who went on to greater fame with
Angra
and who now fronts
Shaman.
In fact Matos left this band rather early in their career and
for the most part Viper does not resemble the slick melodic metal
of Matos' later bands, instead for a more traditional semi-speed
metal style that mutated into a punky, hardcore-tinged sound
by the time of 1995's
Coma Rage,
though the early Matos albums such as
Theatre Of Fate does show
a slightly more melodic side due to Matos' vocals.
Viper initially broke up in 1997, but eventually regrouped a few
years later, and finally released a comeback album,
All My Life,
in 2007.
