The Wretched End

The focal point of The Wretched End, clearly, is Samoth, famous for his work in the mighty Emperor as well as making appearances with a host of other black metal bands. This band follows in the footsteps of his last major band (Zyklon) and bears some resemblance to that band, chugging out deathy black metal. Inroads, the second of two albums released as of this writing, has a bit of saminess to it, though it's got its moments like the ferocious opener "Tyrant Of The Mountain". Samoth found two veteran Norse black metallers to aid him in the effort, and Nils Fjellström's drumming in particular shines here.
