X-World/5

This project is the brainchild of bassist Magnus Rosén (recently of
HammerFall)
and his drummer pal Big Swede, with their aim being to play Euro power
metal with a futuristic image and style (so, that means occasional spacey
effects in the music and sci-fi lyrics).
Along for the ride are two big Euro metal names in Andy LaRocque
(
King Diamond and others)
and
Pagan's Mind
vocalist Nils K. Rue, further heightening interest in the band.
They've debuted in 2008 with
New Universal Order, and the processed
vocals and various sound effects are sure to generate some controversy --
Euro power metal bands are well known to play it safe by the rules, and
one could imagine that some hardcore fans might not like all the
bells and whistles.
On the other hand, this is definitely a bit different for the genre,
even though without the extras the songs are really pretty
traditional power metal in nature.
The musicianship and production values are top-notch as expected, so that's
a plus.
New Universal Order is a decent first effort from this project, but
it's probably too soon to tell where this band ultimately ends up, as the
sci-fi angle can certainly be explored further.
