Crossover
Crossover was mostly a mid-80's phenomenom, a style that combined early
speed/thrash metal with a more pronounced hardcore vocal style
(despite the apparent similarity in description, crossover bears little
resemblance to the more recent metalcore genre).
Bands like
D.R.I.
and
Cryptic Slaughter
were at the forefront of this mostly US scene, though with the recent
revival of retro thrash, some newer bands are taking to this style as well.
