Blaak Heat Shujaa
Originally hailing from Paris,
Blaak Heat Shujaa enlisted the services of Scott Reeder
(
Kyuss,
among others) as producer for what would turn into two releases,
the
Storm Generation EP and (reviewed here)
The End Of An Era.
Kyuss might be the starting point here (as it is for many stoner
rock bands), but in this case it's far more the later-period,
experimental period, as Shujaa opts for a more minimalist, drawn-out
(excepting the intro, four of the five songs are over 8 minutes long),
60's-inspired psychedelic desert rock style, rather than the straightahead
rock style employed by more typical stoner rock bands.
Very much following their own path here, it'll be interesting to hear
how they progress.
