DoomSword
Often
Italian metal bands tend toward the neoclassical field
a la
Rhapsody Of Fire
or
Labyrinth,
but
DoomSword has a different take on epic metal.
Musically the band occupies the middle ground between
traditional power metal and doom, as the mood and pace
are generally slower and darker than power metal but not
as ponderous as most doom bands.
The songs are rich and majestic without being overblown,
complementing the Viking overtones of the lyrics.
With so many European epic metal bands taking the tried
and true route of upbeat speed metal, it's refreshing
to hear a band like DoomSword do something that is both
strongly reminiscient of the past yet still with a fresh
outlook.
