EverEve

EverEve's Stormbirds (the only one of their four albums reviewed here) is a standout gothic metal album. Not goth in the Type O Negative sense, EverEve's sound instead borrows heavily from traditional metal, adds noticeable black metal touches and classical influences, but with a dark tone throughout. The vocals of Tom Sedotschenko (no longer with the group, and who sadly has since passed away) are intriguing, as he alternates from an almost black metal shriek to a more gutteral growl (not a death style), and even switches languages on more than one occasion. The succeeding albums are reportedly in a similar style, with the band themselves labelling their new album as "cyber gothic metal".
