Hellhound
HellHound was one of many bands emerging from the fertile
Bay Area scene of the 80's.
But though they made a decent name for themselves at the time,
they didn't progress beyond the demo stage and folded near the end
of the decade.
Over the years the demos have been re-released twice
(both of the albums listed below are in fact demo compilations),
and buoyed by the response of fans new and old,
the guys decided to reunite in 2008, with four of the five original
members taking part.
A modified lineup is currently active at this time, now based in
Sacramento.
As heard on the 2008 collection
Anthology, early thrash is the
predominant style, particularly on the first six songs which comprise
a 1985 demo -- by contrast, the remaining four songs, from 1987,
seem to branch out a bit more.
These guys were every bit as good as the many more well-known bands
from that time and place, it's too bad they couldn't seize the moment.
Perhaps the reincarnated lineup will rectify that.
