Hydra Vein
One of the earlier British thrash bands of the eighties,
Hydra Vein was formed by the Maddison brothers, who also played
for a time in another Brit band,
Deathwish
(one of several connections with that band, as guitarist Danny
Ranger was the brother of Deathwish bassist Stuart Ranger,
and that band's guitarist, Dave Brunt, played on the first
Hydra Vein demo).
They signed to the tiny Metalother label and released
Rather Death Then False Of Faith, a quite decent
Slayer-esque
thrash album even with the low-budget production.
The album got fine reviews but not a lot of distribution, leading
the band to leave for the RKT label for their second and last
album,
After The Dream.
Unfortunately that album never got the same interest as the debut,
and Hydra Vein disbanded soon after its release.
Almost thiry years later, Damon Maddison and Ranger put together
a new lineup, and a new album is set for late 2022.
