Khlyst
Khlyst is one of the later projects headed up by James Plotkin,
who's been involved in all sorts of bands over the years
and was
most recently seen in the late
Khanate.
A lot of what Plotkin has been involved in is
some sort of extreme noisefest, and Khlyst is no exception,
if anything this is even less structured and more out-there
than his previous works.
He does most of the work here himself, save percussion
by his old Khanate bandmate Tim Wyskida and a quite
chilling vocal performance by one Runhild Gammalsaeter --
her growls, shrieks, moans, and assorted tortured voices
make for a rather harrowing listening experience.
Musically, it's drone-ish, at times ambient and at other
times rather cacophonous.
Really a pretty bizarre project and clearly tailored to a select
few -- traditional metalheads probably aren't going to get too
much out of this.
