Momentum
This enigmatic Icelandic band went through several styles shifts
in their relatively short career, from black and death metal in their
formative years (one EP in each style in 2004 and 2006 respectively)
to something quite different on their later (and only) two albums.
2010's
Fixation, At Rest is all over the place, with heavier progressive
sections, a good deal of post-metal atmosphere, and subtle nods to
their past.
And by the time of their swansong, 2015's aptly-titled
The Freak Is Alive,
they'd mutated yet again, adopting a somewhat disconsolate semi-doom
post-metal style.
There was much to like about this band, but they seemingly never got the
breaks needed to move up in the ranks.
